Dialdirect Insurance App Guide

This is a simple guide for downloading and using the Dialdirect Insurance App as well as troubleshooting tips should you experience any issues.

Setup Guide for IOS

 1. Ensure that your phone has the minimum IOS of 8.1.

 2. Search for the Dialdirect Insurance App in the App Store.

 3. Download the App.

 4. Once downloaded, open the App and accept the following:

  • Notifications
  • Access to motion and fitness activity
  • Access to location services

 5. Go through all the welcome screens until you arrive at the “Get Started” screen.

 6. Select the Login/Register button if:

  • you are a Dialdirect customer:
    - use your existing login details if you already have an online profile; or
    - register on the App if you don’t have an online profile.
  • you are not a Dialdirect customer but want access to unlimited trip tracking, Driver challenges, Leaderboards and Vouchering.

 7. Select the Test Drive button if:

  • you are not a Dialdirect customer and just want to try the trip tracking functionality for 15 days.

8. Go through the tutorial screens and you’re ready to start tracking.

 

How to improve trip tracking accuracy:

  • Go to the settings section of the App, select location settings and ensure the following:
    - Location is set to “always”
    - Background App refresh is set to “on”
    - Cellular data is set to “on”
    - For more increased accuracy, ensure that motion and fitness is “on”
  • Go to your device/phone’s settings and ensure the following:
    - Low battery power mode is disabled. If the battery is low, charge it as soon as possible because low power mode may impact tracking functionality.

  2. Search for the Dialdirect Insurance App in the Google Play Store.
  3. Download the App.
  4. Once downloaded, open the App.
  5. Go through the welcome screens until you arrive at the “Get Started” screen.
  6. Select the Login/Register button if:
  • you are a Dialdirect customer:
    - use your existing login details if you already have an online profile; or
    - register on the App if you don’t have an online profile.
  • you are not a Dialdirect customer but want access to unlimited trip tracking, Driver challenges, Leaderboards and Vouchering. 

      7. Select the Test Drive button if:

  • you are not a Dialdirect customer and just want to try the trip tracking functionality for 15 days.

      8. Accept request for access to the device’s location.
      9. Go through the tutorial screens and you’re ready to start tracking.

  • Go to the settings section of the App and ensure the following:
    - Location settings are enabled.
  • Go to your device/phone’s settings and ensure the following:
    - Battery saver functionality is not enabled for the Dialdirect Insurance App.
    - There are not restrictions on cellular data or WiFi access. 

    Troubleshooting for IOS

    • Cannot download the Dialdirect Insurance App

Update your operating system to the minimum of IOS 8.1.

Not registered or logged in to the Apple App Store

Create an Apple App store login and/or ensure you have logged in.

No WiFi or data connection

Check that you have sufficient data on your phone or are connected to a WiFi hotspot.

 

    • Cannot register

Double check that the cell phone number, ID number and email address you’ve provided are correct and in a valid format.

 

    • Cannot log in

Cannot remember user name and/or password

Click on the “Forgot your login details?” link on the Login/Register screen.

 

    • Trip(s) not tracking

Possible reason

Possible solution

Location services disabled

Ensure that you have set location services for the Dialdirect Insurance App to “always”.

Cellular data and WiFi not enabled

For more accurate trip start functionality, ensure that cellular data is enabled in the location settings menu of the Dialdirect Insurance App. It is also recommended that you enable WiFi in your smartphone Settings menu.

 

For more accurate trip tracking, ensure that motion and fitness is enabled in the location settings menu of the Dialdirect Insurance App.

Battery/power saver

Ensure that you have not enabled any batter/power saver settings or Apps.

Outdated App version

Ensure that you are running the latest version of the Dialdirect Insurance App.

 

 

App not opened once updated

It is recommended that you open the Dialdirect Insurance App once you’ve updated it. You can then close it and let it run in the background.

 

Low App engagement

It is recommended that you open the App every 2 to 3 days to ensure that the tracking services are running. You can then close it and let it run in the background.

Manual start and stop vs. auto start and stop

 

If you usually track a trip using auto start and stop, try the manual start and stop function and see if this works. The opposite would also apply – try auto start and stop if manual start and stop is not working.

 

    • Trip(s) not uploading/updating/reflecting in the App

No internet access

You need either a cellular or WiFi connection to upload your trip. If you have only enabled WiFi trip upload, ensure that you have regular access to a WiFi hotspot.
