2. What we are doing to improve insurance
The Pothole Brigade comes to town
You may have noticed construction workers in bright orange gear using alien-type machinery in and around Gauteng. Their aim is to finally put a lid on the plague of potholes that have threatened our safety for far too long now.
The 12-week Pilot project is being carried-out by Dial Direct Insurance and Trafficare, in association with the Gauteng Provincial Department of Roads and Transport (GPDRT)
According to Bradley Du Chenne, spokesperson for Dial Direct Insurance: “The increasing number of potholes, which are growing in size as fast as they are multiplying, are firstly a safety hazard and, what many people don’t realise is that even the slightest encounter with a pothole can knock the wheel alignment out, causing unpleasant consequences further down the line.”
In the interest of public safety and urban pride, Dial Direct’s Pothole Brigade is proactively filling potholes in the Gauteng area using innovative ‘Jetpatcher’ technology. The Dial Direct Pothole Brigade has already managed to fill approximately 650 potholes on the R55 in Kyalami, the R562 in Diepsloot, the R511 on William Nicol and the R114 from the R511 to the N14.
“Dial Direct is all about providing simple, smart insurance solutions and the Pothole Brigade follows suit by offering a simple, smart solution to a problem that affects us all. This initiative could also eliminate unnecessary claims on motorist’s car insurance policies and save motorists money in the long run,” concludes Du Chenne.
